How to Perform Umrah?

Things to carry during Umrah
- Your passport is the most important thing that you have to carry throughout the period of your Umrah.
- If you have any medical condition or you are getting treatment for any disease, then it is essential that you carry your medicines and reports along with you.
- Keep your all electronic devices like mobile phones, laptops and extensions wires along with you, so you don’t have to face any difficulty during your time.
Step by Step
There are numerous rites of performing Umrah. However, we are going to state about the four necessary rituals which a pilgrim cannot ignore. Those are following.
- Putting up Ihram
There is an entire process of putting up Ihram for the Umrah or even Hajj. First, you have to set intentions that you are going to put up this Ihram in order to perform Umrah or Hajj. For this, you have to take a bath first and make sure that you clean your body entirely. During your shower keep one thing in mind that you are taking this bath to wear the Ihram. Then, wear the Ihram sheets and offer two Rakat Nafal while covering your head in your home. Then uncover your head because it is prohibited to cover head while in the state of ihram and especially when you have made your intentions for the Umrah. Following is the Dua to declare your intentions or Niyyah.
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنِّيْ اُرِيْدُ الْعُمْرَةَ فَيَسِّرْهَا لِيْ وَ تَقَبَّلْهَا مِنِّيْ
“O ALLAH! I intend to perform Umrah, please make it easy for me and accept it from me”
After wearing Ihram, there are few things that you cannot do.
- Nails cutting
- Hair cutting or cutting hairs from any part of the body
- Wearing any stitched or colored clothing
- Hunting animals even lice from your head
- Any sexual activity
- Using any scent or anything that has smell of any sort
- Wearing sandals that allow the ankle and back of the foot exposed.
Tawaf is another rite of the Umrah and Hajj too. You can also even do it if you are not in ihram or do not have intentions of Umrah and Hajj. Tawaf means moving around the Kabah seven times with total devotion and respect. The Pilgrims have to move around the Kabah in an anti-clockwise direction. For this, you have to be in ablution (Wudu), and your right shoulder should be uncovered during Tawaf.
Start your Tawaf at the black stone. If you are unable to do it, then kiss the stone, if you cannot do this than touch it. And even touching is not possible for your then face the black stone and point it with your right hand and say the following in Arabic.
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ, اللّهُ أكبر
For the men, it is advised that they briskly walk with during the first three rounds of Tawaf. In the next four rounds, they can walk normally. Once you are at the Yamani corner, touch it if you can and repeat the above lines, and if not then continue your walk.
There are two hills in Mecca and on the north and south of holy Kabah. The literal meaning of the Sa’yee is to run back and forth between these two hills named Safah and Marwa.
Followings are the verses that you have to recite on different positions.
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ, وَ الصلاة والسلام عَلَى رسول الله, اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ,
Read the above verse when you leave the mosque.
إِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِنْ شَعَآئِرِ اللَّهِ فَمَنْ حَجَّ الْبَيْتَ أَوِ اعْتَمَرَ فَلاَ جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَطَّوَّفَ بِهِمَا وَمَنْ تَطَوَّعَ خَيْراً فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ شَاكِرٌ عَلِيْم
Read this verse on approaching the Mount Safah.
When you ascend upon the Mount Safah, then face the Qiblah raise your hands and recite the following lines three times.
اللّهُ أكبر, اللّهُ أكبر, اللّهُ أكبر
لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيْكَ لَه، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَ لَهُ الْحَمْدُ يُحْيِي وَ يُمِيْتُ وَ هُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْر؛ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيْكَ لَه، أَنْجَزَ وَعْدَهُ وَ نَصَرَ عَبْدَهُ وَ هَزَمَ الأَحْزَابَ وَ حْدَه
When you end your seventh trip at Marwah, offer two Rakat of Nafal prayer.
This is the last rite of the Umrah where the male pilgrims only have to shave their heads entirely, and the females will have to cut their hair equal to the length of fingertip.
